Personalized Attention
The McCormick Office of Corporate Relations works closely with McCormick Corporate Partners to ensure that direct and efficient links are made between McCormick and partner companies. In addition to increasing the visibility of partner companies among McCormick faculty and students, the McCormick Office of Corporate Relations offers guidance in locating the advice of technological experts within our Northwestern community and industry network.
McCormick Corporate Partner Days
McCormick Corporate Partner Days is a one-day exclusive “meeting” focusing on topics important to partner companies. The events can be held on-site or on campus. Partner Days are based around individual company interests, project, needs, or challenges. Examples of programs include discussions about strategy and research directions or presentations from Northwestern faculty on recent research and innovations. These sessions are kept confidential to protect the interests of our partner companies.
Company Day @ McCormick
Company Days are an opportunity for partner companies to be featured for an entire day at the McCormick School of Engineering. The day can include a career fair booth in the lobby of the engineering school, presentations in appropriate classes by alumni or employees of the company, or breakfast/lunch for recruiting students. Company Days offer a unique opportunity to recruit students by showcasing partner companies.
Networking with Students and Faculty
McCormick Corporate Partners interact with the renowned faculty and superior students of a major research university, and the arrangement also benefits McCormick's students and faculty by allowing them to remain current in major industry trends. In turn, these valuable relationships aid in the co-op and employment recruiting process.
In addition, Northwestern faculty are encouraged to assist corporate partners by sharing their expertise. Partners enjoy up to three hours of initial consultation on each of 10 research problems per year. After the initial consultation, companies can establish independent arrangements with the faculty member to enter into a research project through the University.
Educational Opportunities
McCormick is dedicated to helping partner companies to maintain a high level of current knowledge by providing diverse opportunities for continuous learning. McCormick Corporate Partner companies are kept informed of the many informative seminars, lectures, and colloquia held at Northwestern. The McCormick Office of Corporate Relations also works to customize seminars and courses given by our faculty for on-site events.
Student Projects
All students in the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science are involved in team projects at every level of their education, and many need sponsorship from industry to complete their work. By becoming clients or sponsors of such projects, McCormick Corporate Partners have the opportunity to see our country's future engineers in action and begin to identify students for co-op and recruitment possibilities. Past industry-sponsored projects have included facilities design, equipment design, mechanical products and devices, electrical and electronic devices, and materials design and development. This project emphasis gives Northwestern students the fundamentals of a successful engineering education, allowing them to experience more real engineering in their undergraduate careers.
McCormick Lobby Video Display
McCormick Corporate Partner companies have the opportunity to be featured on the video display located in the main lobby of the Technological Institute. This display is an ideal format to communicate company information, employment opportunities, or other notable events to Northwestern's students, faculty, and the visiting public. The 42-inch plasma screen shows video presentations with content provided by partner companies. A touch panel allows viewers to view company logos and to hear your presentation through overhead directional speakers.
Northwestern University Library Card
Member companies receive two library cards that provide access to and use of Northwestern University's extensive books, reference collections, and databases.
