Walt Conard has served as Vice President, BOWE Bell + Howell - Intellectual Property and MERLIN Business Management from 1996 to Present. He is also the Vice Chairman of the McCormick Office of Corporate Relations Advisory Board. Mr. Conard is responsible for managing the new product development organization focused on worldwide postal automated mail processing equipment. This technology requires control and data processing software plus mechanical and electrical engineering for letter and flat mail sorting systems and for special purpose USPS equipment. He is also responsible for business and technical management on the Mail Evaluation, Readability and Lookup Instrument (MERLIN) project. The MERLIN production contract is for 1203 mail acceptance machines that verify compliance with all USPS mail preparation and postage discount rules. Mr. Conard's executive management team responsibilities include research and development project planning, strategic business objective planning and managing performance to meet key financial metrics. Prior to joining BOWE Bell + Howell, Mr. Conard worked in the postal business development for IBM from 1991 to 1996. He established IBM in the USPS market place as a member of the diversification team. The assignments during this period focused on new business proposals and establishing advanced technology in high-speed parallel processors and automated software address recognition readers. Mr. Conard received his Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering (Tau Beta Pi) from Bucknell University, and his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University.
