Brian Burrows, Ph.D., Emeritus member
Brian Burrows retired from USG Corporation in 2005. He joined USG in 1987 as Vice President of Research and Technology and was responsible for the Corporation?s technical center located in Libertyville, IL. USG is a major building material manufacturer whose products include: gypsum wallboard, joint finishing compounds, plaster products, cement board, exterior insulated finish systems, and acoustical ceiling tile and grid suspension systems. Prior to joining USG, Dr. Burrows was with Gould Inc. for nine years at the company's Research Center in Rolling Meadows, IL. At Gould, he was Director of the Materials and Devices Laboratory. He also managed a joint development activity between Gould and Nippon Mining for the development of new electronic materials. Other affiliations include Inco Ltd. (Mississauga, Ontario), Battelle (Geneva, Switzerland), and Tyco Labs (Waltham, MA). Dr. Burrows is a company representative and former Director of the Industrial Research Institute. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, Materials Research Society, AAAS (Fellow) and the IEEE. He holds degrees from the University of Tasmania and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Southampton University (UK).
